Meet Tosha Parmar, a ceramic artist based in Auroville, India. Originally trained in architecture at CEPT in Ahmedabad, she brings a structural sensitivity to her clay work.
Tosha’s practice explores contrasts: delicate Nerikomi pieces made from layered colored clays and fired in electric kilns, alongside bold forms shaped by fire, ash, and unpredictability in wood and soda firings. She treats clay like fabric—folding, stretching, allowing it to move.
At Mandala Pottery, she balances production work with experimental art-making. “I like working both ways—careful and wild,” she says. Her goal is always the same: to capture a moment of movement in clay.
